primarily by one of our Senior Network Designers, Conrad Palmer. We welcome
any comments or feedback to improve. The website is located at www.krns-inc.com. Come learn about all our services, or
access the customer portal on the home page with your unique credentials.
Also,
we are going to publish this newsletter on a monthly basis. If you know
of anyone who would be interested in receiving this newsletter, please forward
this on and they can subscribe. We do not sell or give out email

Opportunities are usually disguised as
hard work,
so most people don't
recognize them.

Selecting a
Backup Solution
for Your Critical Information
|
|
|
|

|
A recent study conducted by
Insight Express showed that 30% of IT managers estimated that their
companies lose at least $10,000 in revenue and productivity after a
server failure. For 85% of the respondents, recovering from a server
failure takes two or more hours.
|
The
same survey, however, found that many businesses lack backup plans or
recovery measures. Thirty-five percent of those surveyed don't back up on
a regular basis. Insight Express also found that 54% don't see the need
to back up their entire systems more than once a month.
And
here's something else to consider: Gartner Research has stated that two
out of five enterprises that experienced a disaster went out of business
in five years.

7 Things to Expect from Your IT Partner

Your information-technology
partner business should be just that — a partner in every sense of the
word. On the surface, that may sound a little warm and fuzzy, and
possibly a bit optimistic.
Some
IT consultants may focus on fulfilling your basic needs.
|
They
provide you technology advice and supply whatever tangible products and
service are necessary to facilitate your needs.
But
what you should reasonably expect from an IT "partner" goes
well beyond that. They should take a vested interest in your business,
providing the benefits and guidance that are central to your company's
growth and success.
Here are seven things to expect from your IT
partner:

Backups
– Are you properly protected?
We have
been investing in improved backup and monitoring tools to protect you and
your business. A missing backup can be costly, both in terms of
productivity and data loss. During a computer emergency, a proper backup
can be the difference between a fast seamless recovery and potential
disaster. Backups are so important that we have made it a key focus of
our first newsletter.
Backups
come in many forms, from rotating disk backups to offsite data storage. A
rotating disk backup is the most basic option. Using this option, a
backup is run overnight on an external hard drive. The next day, that drive
is removed and taken offsite. In its place, another drive is plugged in
and a backup is run. You can then alternate between the two drives. The
drive with the most current complete backup is taken offsite, and brought
back the next day. This will ensure that your most current backup is
available should a fire or natural disaster occur that destroys your
onsite location.

Dr. Albert Lin
Dr.'s
Lin, Gramins, and Fortney recently hosted an open house for clients and
service providers alike. It was a great night, filled with food, wine,
laughs, and music provided by the hosts. Thanks!
The
Dr.'s have been K&R clients for nearly two years, starting with the
original design of their system to ongoing service, support, and growth
planning. The practice allowed us to showcase our services and
workmanship at this event. We displayed how our monitoring tools,
operatory mounts and technical know-how can form a complete office
solution.
We look
forward to continuing our relationship with them.
